Approximate size of personal HANKO for each purpose

Approximate size of personal HANKO for each purpose

There are different sizes of HANKO that are suitable for different purposes.

  • Registered seal for men...18.0mm to 15.0mm
This is the HANKO that is registered with the municipality where you live when obtaining a HANKO certificate. We will engrave the full name (last name + first name). The most common typeface is "Inso-tai".
  • Registered seal for women...15.0mm to 13.5mm
A size one size smaller than a man's size is chosen. It is a full name of "surname + first name", and the font is generally "inso".
In the case of women, taking into consideration that the ``surname'' may change, it is sometimes created with ``first name only.'' 15.0mm is best for "last name + first name", and 13.5mm is best for "first name only".
  • Bank stamp...13.5mm~12.0mm
This is the HANKO that is registered when opening a bank account. Generally, it only has a ``surname'' or ``first name,'' and the font is ``inso-tai'' or ``tenshotai.'' Just like registered seals, bank seals for men are chosen in a larger size than those for women.
  • Seal...12.0mm~10.5mm
This is a HANKO usually used when receiving documents or luggage. Because the stamp is used to signify approval and confirmation, the font is generally an easy-to-read typeface such as ``old seal type'' or ``curly typeface''.
