Mourning Q&A

Q: When should I send a mourning postcard to the recipient?
A: We recommend sending it out as soon as possible. It is common to send the gift before the recipient prepares the New Year's card. Please try to receive it in early December at the latest.
Q: What is the scope of sending greeting cards during mourning?
A: Generally speaking, it refers to the misfortune of up to the second degree of relative from the person's point of view. There is a trend that it is not necessary if you live in separate households, but if you have a deep bond with the person in question and you wish to mourn, you may send out greetings during mourning.
Q: What is the name of the deceased?
A: There is no particular phrase. In the case of parents, it is common to write ``father'' and ``mother'', and if the sender is married, the sender is often in the joint name of the couple, so even if either parent has passed away, you can write ``father'' or ``mother''. No problem. It is based on the idea that there are now four parents due to marriage.
Q: How old was the deceased?
A: Generally, age is expressed in "counting years" rather than full age. "Counting year" is the age when the year of birth is counted as one year old.
